Come be the Church!
Whether you are on vacation in Japan or you will be in Tokyo for a longer time, you are always welcome to be a part of worship and the community at Tokyo Lutheran Church. The English Congregation has had guests from over 80 countries around the world! Join us for worship and then stay for great conversation while sipping coffee or tea. Almost every Sunday many of us go out for lunch.
ALL people are welcome. Christians and non-Christian are welcome. Lutherans and non-Lutherans are welcome. We want to hear your story and celebrate you!
Once a month we try to get together as a community. We've gone hiking and bowling. We've had BBQs, ice cream and tea parties. We get together to celebrate American Thanksgiving, Christmas, Lent, Easter and many more holidays. We also volunteer at Second Harvest.
Holidays: We have a joint English/Japanese service for Reformation Day, Christmas , Easter , and Pentecost. On those days worship starts at 10:30, followed by a congregation party.
Lent & Holy Week: Wednesday evening we have a short worship followed by soup dinner at 7pm. Maundy Thursday and Good Friday Services are at 7pm. This year we will host a Seder Meal.
Christmas Eve: There is an evening English Worship Candlelight Service at 8:30pm on December 24, 2016.
On Sunday, December 25 @10:30am we will have a bilingual worship followed by congregation party.
Directions: Go to ShinOkubo station off of the Yamanote Line (Green Line). There is only one exit out of the station, so go out of that exit and go right immediately on Okubo Dori (Okubo street). The church is located on the right side of Okubo Dori, about five minutes by foot from the station. For an easy way to find train routes go to www.hyperdia.com and hit the English button.
